Depending on duration of vessel sailing and temperature, the calcium suspension can settle and temporarily solidify due to weight of liquid above it.
This is a simple system for mixing contents of IBC before decanting.
Can be done with 1″ or 2″ piping.
First time; both pump and air agitation is better
Subsequent: air agitation should be sufficient
Some growers who apply Mycroliquid immediately after clearing a flush and leave overnight before starting watering’s for next flush and have some large mushrooms left like above may see a slight white colouring on the cap edges the following day. To avoid this apply 1/2 l after the Mycroliquid watering to wash off caps but not any more as we want to keep the nutrient in the pinning zone for a period to react.
This is not normally an issue with small pins.
Considerations with using Organic Mycroliquid (OML)
It is becoming obvious that because every farm is different and environment and casing materials are slightly, there is no fixed way to use this product, so it will involve a little cross testing to find out what works best on your farm.
The KEY POINTS and PRINCIPLES to consider are:
- Dose: 130ml vs 260ml. Higher dose = higher yield
- Dilution: minimum needs to be 3:1, but 7-8:1 seems good overall
- Position: keep product on top of the casing (in the pinning zone)
- Activity: Temperature/Metabolic rate is important for mycelium feeding (as always); end of case run pretty much guarantees this but need to consider 2nd dose ie not at the end of watering when all activity and metabolism slowed in 2nd flush*
*compromise in farms when a lot of mushrooms still on day of clearing 1st and need to water immediately, we suggest putting OML on last water of the day eg if it is 8L after flush off; put 6L water on then 2L OML application. Leave overnight to react with good activity in beds still, then remaining water following day.
We have detailed data for clients who are concerned about potential residues getting into mushrooms via
their disinfectants. We can guarantee that Sporekill is safe in this regard.
Using a simple submersible pump. This model is 10000L per hour capacity.
Dropped through the neck of the IBC and left for a period does a fantastic job.
Another possibility is a 4″ well pump that will drop straight through.
The best all around way is to have a pump connected to IBC with a recirc loop and tap back to top of iBC
and a T for decanting product when ready. This way the IBC can be left in place while being emptied.

We commissioned Prof Ralph Noble to conduct an independent test on our casing complement. Herewith is the summary report
NOTE: Due to circumstances Ralph was not able to put extra water in for 2nd flush which is what our customers do to increase and improve 2nd flushes. Ralph used a slightly different protocol to normal applications in case run and post 1st as some growers want to apply pre 1st flush and these tests were to prove that could be done without causing bacterial blotch or reducing whiteness which was of course the case.
